Maunaantar – A Mime Play Theatre Competition

We ‘Dreams 2 Reality’, ‘Wide Wings Media’ & ‘Fairytale Media Studio’ have organized a unique theatre competition named ‘Maunaantar 2019 ( मौनांतर )‘ – Pune’s 1st Mime Play competition which is to be conducted from 4th, 6th & 7th July 2019 at Mumbai & Pune.

Competition Kicks on 4th July at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Dadar, Mumbai, and 6th & 7th July at Bharat Natya Mandir, Pune.

This year we will also be showcasing the performance of winning plays of the competition at the Prize distribution ceremony to be held on 13th July’19 at Bharat Natya Mandir, Pune.

This is the 6th consecutive year of the competition and we are happy that this competition is one of its kind in the whole of Maharashtra.

For the last 5 years, the competition has received a wonderful response with over 20 entries from Pune as well as Mumbai participating in the competition. The main focus of this competition is to emphasize purely on acting without the help of speech/dialogues. Importance will be on facial expressions, hand signals and body motions.

The competition would have all other aspects of a One-act play competition with set, lights, music, makeup also being a part in the play but this would all be without dialogues.

Highlights of the Competition:

• The competition is a group competition open to all. So any college, group or association can participate in it.
• Renowned artists from the theatre fraternity and Marathi industry to Judge the competition.
• Cash prizes along with trophies (Karandak) to be given to the winners and runners-up in different categories.
• The Main aim is to bring out the best Mime One-act play in Pune & Mumbai and help the talented artists to discover this very important aspect of Mime theatre in them.

Important Rules:

• Open to all groups / colleges.
• No age limit for participants.
• No restrictions on the number of team members in a team.
• No use of words is allowed in any form in the play.
• Duration of play – Maximum 40 Mins.
• Combined results to be announced for Pune & Mumbai.
